The Beatles

No one could foresee the movement that was 'The Beatles'

The Beatles influence in Music is endless. Their contribution to Music continues on through generations gaining millions of fans along the way. As their influence is still so apparent in much of today's music, re-inventing Pop culture not only influencing rock but across the board of music genres everywhere.
The amazing story of The Beetles began in the English City of Liverpool, where in the mid 1950s John Lennon formed a group called 'Quarry Men' performing at venues across Liverpool; his journey would take him on a journey of new friends and partnerships that changed the music world. First call of coincidence or fait was in 1957 when he met Paul McCartney, a talented guitarist who would later introduce John to his young friend George Harrison who also played the guitar. With members coming and going and several name changes finally they settled for the name 'The Beatles'. Working their way up the Club Ladder, in 1960, whilst playing different venues they met a talented young drummer called Richard Starky (Ringo Star) who would occasionally play with the band eventually joining them full time.
It was the release of their first single "Love Me Do" on October 5, 1962 that began the revolution that was Beatle-mania. February saw the recording of their first album, and a month later their title single 'Please Please Me' went to number 1 on the melody maker chart and the album reached the top spot.
Hit after hit, girls screaming and fainting, fans went crazy for the Band. Considered leader of the 'British Invasion' and successfully cracking the States, with their hit "I want to hold your hand" reaching number 1 in the American charts, The Beatles achieved what no other had at the time. Performing for the Queen of England at top London venues, the group could do no wrong. Album after album saw the group into the history books, recorded as the best-selling musical act of all time in the United States of America, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, and in 2004 Rolling Stones Magazines voted them No1 on the 100 Greatest Artists of all time list.
In 1969 John Lennon quit the band leading to the split of The Beatles and solo projects by Paul and George. Their mark on music has never faded. The UK saw The Beatles release over 40 different singles and albums that reached the number 1 spot in the charts, their record company EMI suggested that by 1985 they had sold over 1 Billion discs and tapes and in 1988 The Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Everything from Indie bands to R&B artists, not to mention recent British artists like Oasis and The Verve priding their inspiration on The Beatles style.
The Beatles have evolved and re-invented music, developed genres and inspired musicians all over the world.
