Del Shannon’s ‘Gotta Keep Searchin’ is available to download on MBOP mega store now!

Del Shannon, a songwriter from Michigan, was one of the handful of American Rock 'n' Rollers of the 1960s to survive the crashing tide of the British rock n roll invasion. Among the few were Elvis, Dion, Roy Orbison, and Del Shannon.

Del Shannon was considered legendary by music buffs in the industry and his fellow contemporaries alike. His excellent guitar work was often overlooked, but ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr cited Del Shannon as a major influence on his guitar playing, especially his unusual way of playing minor to major chords.

Shannon's greatest ability was his song writing. Encapsulating torment, despair, and vulnerability in his songs.

Shannon's former manager, Irving Micahnik, was often cited for saying, "Del has a teardrop in his throat, and when he sings, that's what comes out!"

In 1961 he topped the US charts with his no.1 hit “Runaway”, Shannon followed this with one day recording “Hats Off To Larry” which hit No.5, whilst his heartbreaker “So Long Baby” hit No.1 later in 1961, all of these classic releases are available in the “Gotta Keep Searchin” Mp3 now!
